Our Misson:

The South Valley Partners for Environmental Justice links community members with researchers and health care providers to develop a research agenda to solve environmental health problems identified in Albuquerque 's South Valley.

Partners' Goals:

  • Establish culturally appropriate methods to involve community members in land-use planning decisions that directly impact their community.
  • Develop a public media campaign using the most effective outreach and education to encourage community participation in land-use planning.
  • Develop a community-based decision-making process that quantifies impacts of policy on the community's health and environment.
  • Identify and educate community members and planners on pollutants that pose an immediate health risk.
  • Work with community partners to develop community leadership to increase active participation and decision-making in land-use policy.
